TODAY : Less than a week after calling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh a mere "entertainer," the apology from Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Ks.) has arrived. Not only did Tiahrt deny any attempt to denigrate Limbaugh, Tiahrt's spokesman called Limbaugh a "great leader."
"The congressman believes Rush is a great leader of the conservative movement in America -- not a party leader responsible for election losses," the spokesman said, according to the Wichita Eagle. "Nothing the congressman said diminished the role Rush has played and continues to play in the conservative movement."
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee can barely contain its glee over adding Tiahrt to the I'mSorryRush.com apology generator (link to the generator in that article, and also below in the next section).

Congressman Todd Tiahrt, Republican of Kansas, in a meeting with the editorial board of the Kansas City Star, was asked if conservative talk radio king Rush Limbaugh is the de facto leader of the Republican party.

His program is broadcast for free to most small radio stations.
The small radio stations then collect local advertising fees.
Bottom line is he gives his show for free then claims a huge market.
He gives his radio show away to small markets so he can get major bucks for the major markets. Like, if he had a magazine 70% of his subscriptions would be complimentary.
There are large LARGE areas of the country where the only radio they get at all is AM and Rush's show, where they live too far away for cable and must have satellite TV to get their Fox news fix ... we're not talking urban/suburban ... we're talking wide swatches of rural hicksville farmland and desert, etc, where the poor and undereducated roam....

I hope the DNC continues to keep close tabs on this....especially if the next Repub candidate for POTUS just happened to have needed to apologize to Rush sometime in the past. JFK was criticized for being Catholic, the Dixiecrats/ Repubs of the time were worried he'd hand the leadership of the country to the Vatican if elected. I say there's a higher likelihood now of the Repub candidate handing the leadership of the country over to Rush if that candidate was elected. That would make the campaign ads easy-a 30 second spot with a pic of Rush and a voice over saying "Would you want this man to be president?"
