Hello, um, Senator Obama. Nah, too formal. Um, Hey Obamarama! Dangit, don't try so hard, George. Uh, let's see. Hey now Mr. President Elect! Let's go check out yer new house!

Senator Elect Barama. Great to see you. Er, I see you brought some friends.

Who, them?

YES! WE! CAN! YES! WE! CAN!

They've been following me around since last Tuesday. Can't shake em.

Well I was hoping this meeting would just be between us.

Hey guys. Take five, okay?

YES! WE! CAN! YES! WE... ok.

Now let's just get a photo to commemorate this moment of historical momentousness which will...um...all ya'll say cheese.

LOL! Dr. B. makes the boring photo op hilarious. Kudos.
I snarfed soda thru my nose all over the keyboard LOL LOL LOL LOL
WASHINGTON (AP)-- The struggling auto industry was thrust into the middle of a political standoff between the White House and Democrats on Monday as President-elect Barack Obama urged President Bush to support immediate emergency aid.
Mr. Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Mr. Obama and Congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia, a measure for which Mr. Bush has long fought, people familiar with the discussion said.
Hey Mr. Prezidunce- you're a lame duck, haven't you heard. I'd worry more about being charged with war crimes if I were you. You are in no position to bargain for anything. Your credibility evaporated long ago.
Barack - don't make a deal with that devil
Bush called the police and reported a black man and woman were in his house and stole his TV
there shouldn't be a deal. nothing until bush is out of office.
this is just another attempt to salvage the oil operations in colombia of the major oil companies. there is a huge pipeline down there that is sabotaged on a daily basis. the political situation down there is so unstable that the pipeline hasn't been able to operate at anywhere near its capacity since it became viable nearly 30 years ago.
it's a level of their desperation that they are trying to revive what's going on in colombia. it had been all but written off because of violence, and the fact that kidnapping of valuable officials is considered just another way of making money down there.
it's less than three months till the inauguration. there's nothing so urgent that it can't wait that long.
I had forgotten about that pipeline in Colombia. Thanks Mork345.
HOW FRICKIN' VILE IS THIS? Bush is willing to throw American car companies under the bus and the three million jobs that go with them just so he can cut a sweetheart deal with Colombian terrorist government that Republicans have been supporting since the REAGAN administration!
I didn't think he could go any lower. But he did.
Oh good. Even though he was the worst president in American history and brought this country and the entire planet to the brink of destruction, I'd hate to see Laura and him homeless and begging on the streets after January 19th. Bush is truly a natural for his new career as a TV Game Show Host! "LET'S MAKE A DEAL!!"
Yes, we're all clamoring for W's input, his vast knowledge on anything of economic value. Oh wait, he has no clue. :)
Colombia is on the hook to supply W with his retirement cocaine. He wants this deal done.
I just don't see how Bush can equate making a "deal" on an economic stimulus plan that would affect those in the deepest trouble here, with opening trade with a corrupt country -
One is clearly meant to solve problems on an emergency basis, and the other is a questionable association even in normal economic times -
Bush must be planning one h3ll of a coke binge when he leaves office.
Doesn't want to pay those pesky import duties.
I take it that W and O only talked about this for their hour together...
O tells W not to wait for Jan 20 to help the economy...and O says only if you do this one little thing for me...more "free" trade, more cheap labor, more deregulation, more profits for corporations. It's going to make employment matters here worse. It's typical W. Throw a wrench in everything.
I'd tell him, sure we'll make a deal, get the stimulus out there, and then stall the trade agreements until Jan. 20th. Piece of cake. Even if they slip the agreements through, they can be reworked once Obama takes office. He's just trying to save face. The trade agreements are window dressing. I'd just tell him whatever he wants to hear, as long as he does what we say.
He has to look as if he's doing something the next two months.
Screw Columbia and screw Bush. Let Bush further stain his legacy with inaction in the face of domestic economic crisis.
I hope everyone living in a state associated with the auto industry in any way remembers the Republicans' desire to sell them out to the Colombians!
The Republicans will be able to count on votes from South Korea and Colombia from now on..
Tell the chimp to pound sand. He should be bargaining for a reduced sentence.
Pres Bush likely dosn't like the auto manufacturers because of their unionized employees. I think he would like to see the people work for much lower wages [starvation wages].
That's the GOP goal.
Serfdom.
Are you KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?
The worst President in American history is going to hold our economy HOSTAGE to a deal with a corrupt government that murders people who try to organize labor unions?
BUSH. SHOULD. BE. IN. HANDCUFFS.
NOW.
Dr B titled today's (hilarious) blog: "A MAN OF HIS WORD, PRESIDENT-ALMOST BARACK OBAMA SITS DOWN WITH AN UNPOPULAR, AGGRESSIVE WORLD LEADER WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS."
It made me laugh, but after reading here about what happened today, Dr B actually nailed it!
Obama today was like a negotiator at the scene of a hostage situation. Bush is the real terrorist who is holding our economy hostage and driving Americans out of jobs and homes. Arrest this joker right now.
Good Lord, the doc's analogy works. It's stunning enough just to think about, but when you realize everyone else sees it, too, and still nothing's done about it, that's when it hits you just how bad things really are.
Bush along with Cheney, Rove and Company really need to be LOCKED UP! Pure EVIL people. It is amazing they are all still running around free! What is wrong with this country???! Let's restore America! January 20, 2008 can't get here soon enough! Can't wait for the real leadership, truth and hope of Obama and his administration. Peace.
Our representatives in Congress need to put this aid package on Dubya's desk ASAP. If he vetoes it, they should proceed with the fastest impeachment proceedings in recorded history, remove his presidential pension, and remove all secret service protection for the rest of his life. Maybe that will make him think twice about wanting to "bargain" with the welfare of America.
President-Elect Obama has no reason to "make a deal" with President Bush. If George Bush wants to extend his string of bad decisions by not working to secure the future of the American auto industry, so be it. Bush is in no position to extract a deal, he has no bargaining position whatsoever. By the same token, no help should be given to the American auto industry unless it is made to dedicate itself to producing clean, energy efficient cars. To give them money to continue their short term goals is just throwing money away. The one with the money dictates the terms, and the sooner the banks, the auto industry, Wall Street, the Congress and the President grasp this simple concept the better off we'll all be.
I still cannot get over my shock at learning that the Obamas are Black.
Both of them!
You could have knocked me over with a feather!
I wish President Elect Obama could ask President Bush to just move out/move on tomorrow so that the Obama Administration could start fixing all the things that the Bush Administration has screwed up over the past 8 years.
i can see the negative Fox/O'Reilly ad already, darkened photos of Bush and Obama together. Narrator: "this man lied an entire nation into war and is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans. Not only did Obama have dinner with this terrorist, but he even went to live in his house. Obama, too risky and radical for America."
Can we measure the drapes, yet?
Yes. We. Can.
lol
Better than Palin measuring the Lincoln bedroom for her tanning bed.
I wonder if Bush used hand sanitizer after he shook Obama's hand like he did last time they met, as documented by Obama in 'The Audacity of Hope'. Bush belongs in a cave.
We probably will not know until Obama writes his memoirs.
The fundamentals of the people's disdain for George W. Bush are strong.
I think that it is profoundly moving that a black family is moving into the living quarters of a house that was built by the labor of black slaves.
ok, you just HAD to go and tug at my heart strings.
Truly a momentous occasion for ALL of us.
What incensing is that it took a black man to win for that fact to be widely acknowledged. As well as the fact a black man designed the engineered the street layout for DC and its buildings.
And that would be Benjamin Banneker. Clearly he didn't want to make it easy for people to get from point A to point B. The layout is nuts.
The actual house built by the slaves is long gone. This whitehouse was built in the Truman administration.
That was a renovation, not a complete rebuilding.
Why would Obama listen to ANYTHING this dolt has to say..about ANYTHING??? Or, maybe Obama will listen...and do the opposite, which will be the correct thing to do for America!!!
It's protocol, reassuring everyone that the transition will be smooth.
This will be the first time in American history when a President-elect briefed a sitting president on the issues of the day. After the meeting I'm sure President Bush will finally be up to speed.
I hope Obama made sure he still had his wallet when he left.
Latest USA Today/Gallup numbers released Monday show 68% of voters view the president-elect favorably.
Up from 62% before the election -- the highest of any major presidential candidate since Gallup began measuring it in 1992.
On another note, today is Veteran’s Day. The government will pay tribute to our fighting men and women. President Bush plans to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unmet benefits.
In Kenya, thousands of expectant mothers are planning to name their babies after Barack Obama. The Kenyans are really glad Obama won, because in Swahili, John McCain means “your goat just ate my daughter.”
last one, I promise -
For years they were considered “not as good” as the rest of us. That they were backwards and ignorant, and shouldn’t even be able to vote, let alone run, for President. We complain that their inadequate education has left them unprepared for civic life, that they don’t know certain continents from countries. But I have a dream that someday, even an Alaskan can become President.
As long as it's not Mrs. Ya Betcha wink wink
But wait: A recent poll says 64 percent of Republicans want Sarah Palin to run in 2012. And another poll found that 100 percent of comedians also want her to run.
How bad must the G.O.P. feel right about now? It portrayed Obama as a socialist, a communist, a Muslim, and a friend of terrorists, and the majority of American voters said, “Y’know, we’re O.K. with that, as long as he’s not a Republican.”
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Yeah, I get all my news from you and the Daily Show/Colbert Report.
You're funnier :)
